Technical Director – Structural Engineering
We are seeking an accomplished Technical Director – Structural Engineering with extensive experience in structural design, particularly reinforced concrete and structural steel systems across high-rise and low-rise buildings.
This is a senior leadership role focused on elevating SSE's technical excellence, strengthening client relationships, and ensuring consistent quality and professionalism across our concrete and steel design teams.
The successful candidate will serve as a senior technical authority and trusted client partner, promoting alignment between teams, enhancing collaboration, and ensuring that SSE consistently delivers technically robust designs and an exceptional client experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee and strengthen design quality across concrete and steel engineering teams.
Ensure technical excellence, design integrity, and compliance with engineering standards.
Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted technical adviser and senior point of contact.
Oversee client communication and ensure professionalism, responsiveness, and client satisfaction.
Promote collaboration and alignment between design teams, enhancing efficiency and overall performance.
Mentor technical leaders and drive continuous improvement across the design function.
What We Are Looking For
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering; a postgraduate qualification in Structural Engineering is an advantage.
25+ years of progressive experience in structural engineering and design, preferably within a reputable engineering consultancy.
Extensive experience in both reinforced concrete and structural steel design, covering high-rise and low-rise buildings.
A proven track record in technical leadership, design review, and quality assurance across complex structural projects.
Demonstrated ability to lead and align multiple technical teams while maintaining high standards of engineering quality and professionalism.
Strong experience managing senior client relationships and representing an engineering consultancy in technical and strategic discussions.
Exceptional communication, interpersonal, mentoring, and conflict-resolution skills.
A collaborative leadership style, combining technical authority with sound judgment, diplomacy, and the ability to bring people together.
Strong commitment to engineering excellence, continuous improvement, client satisfaction, and organizational effectiveness.
