Role Overview – Senior Architect Opportunity in High-Rise, Infrastructure & Sustainable Design

We are seeking an accomplished, creative Senior Architect to enhance our growing architectural team at SSE. This is a unique opportunity for individuals with a strong track record in leading multi-disciplinary design projects, particularly in the high-rise, complex infrastructure, and commercial sectors. Key Responsibilities – Architectural Leadership, Design Innovation & Project Delivery

• Lead all stages of architectural design on major developments, from initial concept and feasibility to detailed design, tender, and delivery.
• Champion sustainability, technical rigor, and design quality in all projects, proactively identifying opportunities for innovative building solutions.
• Collaborate closely with clients, consultants, and internal engineering teams to translate requirements into visionary, buildable designs.
• Provide hands-on mentorship and guidance to architectural and design team members, fostering technical development and creative problem-solving.
• Ensure compliance with building regulations, planning policy, health & safety standards, and internal best practice procedures.
• Oversee production of high-quality drawings, specifications, presentations, and design reports using industry-standard tools and BIM methodologies.
• Lead stakeholder engagement, including client meetings, public consultations, and project presentations, representing SSE with professionalism and expertise.
• Drive continual improvement in design excellence, collaboration, and project outcomes across the architectural function.

What You Bring – Senior Architect Experience, Technical Skill & Collaborative Spirit

• Extensive post-qualification experience as a project-leading architect within the high-rise, commercial, or infrastructure sectors.
• Proven ability to manage large-scale and complex projects from early design to site completion, balancing innovation, program, and client objectives.
• Expert knowledge of building regulations, planning policy, sustainable design standards, and industry best practice.
• Advanced proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and other design/BIM software. Strong visual communication and presentation skills are essential.
• Talent for building positive working relationships across multi-disciplinary teams, with a collaborative, inclusive approach to leadership.
• Strong organizational, commercial, and time management skills, able to simultaneously oversee multiple priorities in a fast-paced consultancy environment.
